Techout Los Angeles

This month I had the privilege of representing the Buddytruk team as we invaded Techout Los Angeles in Hollywood, Ca. It was a great event that showcased entrepreneurs and rising talent in the tech community. This Silicon Beach movement is real, folks, and it's great to be a part of it. Finding that right balance of entertainment, technology, and marketing is something that is still evolving. While at the event, I was interviewed and asked to share some tips for young people, stressing the importance of education. I won't bore you with the details and as soon as I get a video copy of my interview I'll be sure to share it you. But, here are three key points I would like to share with you:

1. Education is important - With the economy being the way it is I'm often asked if getting a formal higher education is just as necessary as it was before vs. just going out there and jamming with the information that's out there. I usually lean towards the former (for my own personal reasons) but, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this. Either way, learning is critical in the development of your career (in any field). As long as you're open minded and act as a sponge with learning you'll be in great shape.

2. Research - Setting aside time to do research is incredibly valuable and a bit understated at times. With the more information you have at your disposal, the more equipped you are to handle any sort of creative project. It's something I personally do when creating strategies or starting a new narrative project.

3. Follow Your Dreams - This is cliche but totally true! There isn't any reason why you should'd go after your dreams. There will never be enough time. There will always be obstacles. There will always be naysayers. But, in the end this is your life, and you should live it the way you want. You want to write that next Oscar worthy piece or create an app that's going to shake up the world...

GO FOR IT!
